about

This single is side A from my very first record, a 7" which I wrote and recorded in the 70's in Charlotte, NC when I performed in a musical group called Speckled Rainbow.

An independent artist known to challenge dominant perceptions, Frankie Staton has always believed music transcends image. She is walking proof that talent can touch a person's heart regardless of an artist's background; and the expression of art is superior to social prejudice. Even since before she became a gregarious force challenging the New York Times' trite analysis of country music demographics in 1996, Frankie has always faced challenges of preconceived notions by many from the time she first started playing the piano as a teenager. Her very roots convey she's a perfect archetype of the genre-less.
